Website navigation
Website navigation has two configurations: the header and the footer. Each entry combines a label with an existing page destination or an external web address.
Before you start — Identify the header or footer concerned and prepare each label and destination. An internal page key and an external complete address use different input formats.
Open the menu to edit
Choose the menu that fits the link’s role before opening its editor.
- Open Website configuration.
- Find Menu.
- Choose Header or Footer.
- Click Configure on that row.
The editor opens the selected menu. If no custom configuration has been saved, the website uses the default link set.
Add or edit a link
Use an understandable label and the destination format expected by the row.
- Under Links, enter the label in the first field of a row.
- In its destination field, enter an existing page key shown by website configuration, or a complete
https://URL. - Use Add a link to append another row.
- Check the row sequence before saving.
- Click Save.
For example, pricing selects an existing pricing page; a complete documentation address is an external destination. Do not paste the full path of a local page where the editor expects its page key.
A pricing page belonging to the site uses its page key; a documentation site uses its complete external address. Check both destinations after application. A correct label with an incorrect address still leads visitors to the wrong place.
Remove an unwanted entry
Remove the selected row while retaining the other useful and valid destinations.
- Open the corresponding menu editor.
- Find the row to remove.
- Click its remove icon.
- Keep at least one valid link and save the remaining list.
The saved sequence determines the configured order. Check each destination before saving so an invalid target does not disappear from the cleaned list.
Check the applied navigation
Check the built menu after application, including the mobile version of the navigation.
- Return to website configuration and read the menu status.
- Wait for the saved configuration to be applied to the site.
- Open the public website and inspect the relevant menu.
- Follow each changed link.
- Open the mobile menu and check the same destinations.
Every changed entry opens its intended destination from the correct public menu.
Note — Saving the configuration and updating the built navigation are separate stages. If the site still shows the earlier links, inspect the configuration state before making the same edit again.
Resolve a navigation problem
| Situation | What to check |
|---|---|
| A destination is missing after saving | Review the row’s format and existing page key. An invalid entry may be omitted from the saved configuration. |
| The public menu still shows old links | Read the configuration state and wait for the built-menu update before repeating the edit. |
| Desktop works but mobile is confusing | Open the mobile menu and follow its entries. Check their order and destination as part of the same visitor journey. |
